LOCAL ACTIVITIES

 

Surfing The muizenberg beach front is a hub of surf shops and schools, and teems with surfers of  all ages, and all levels of experience. Give it a try, you will be tatally stoked, we guarantee!  www.garysurf.co.za

Paddle Boarding A great way to get out into the ocean, and a fantasic work out for that core! Hire top quality paddle boards down at the beach front and take on those waves. www.xpressiononthebeach.com

Cape Town freediving Offer an incredible mix of freediving and snorkeling opportunities from seal and kelp forest adventures to training in freshwater lakes and world-class swimming pools.  www.capetownfreediving.com

Scuba Diving  & Snorkeling We have fabulous dive spots along the South Peninsula, so if you would like to do a course, or go out for some recreational diving or snorkeling, get hold of our nearest dive shop Pisces Divers, fo r professional PADI training and top quality diving gear. www.piscesdivers.co.za

Swimming You have  a choice of mountain rock pools, the Silvermine reservoir, Kalk bay and St James tidal pools, the wide ocean, or the Muizenberg swimming pools, dive in - the water is fine!

 

Cycling and Mountain Biking Various mountain biking trails can be found within a short distance of  the guesthouse, and the scenic routes for road bikes are spectacular. Constantia Uitsig bike track is also a great place to hone your mountain biking skills.

 

Bird Watching A twitchers paradise! From flamboyant flamingoes, to Claases Cuckoo - you will be amazed at the abundance of bird life we are priviledged to have in the Western Cape.  www.capebirdingroute.org

 

Horse Riding Noordhoek offers horse riding on the beach and it is just one of those unforgettable experiences. If you love horses this is a must do! www.thedunesbeachrides.co.za

KIDS ACTIVITIES

Super-tubes: Catering for kids, large and small. Hours of fun. Plenty of seating for adults whilst your kids burn up all their energy. On the beach front.

Snorkeling  Book a kids snorkeling experience with our local freediving center Capetown freediving

Mini-golf / Putt putt Master your putting skills and try not to get beaten by the kids! Two courses to chose from. On the beachfront.

The Cat Walk There is a wonderful paved walkway between Muizenberg and St James. Easy to push a pram too. Should take about 20-25 minutes. Get splashed at high tide! Easy to spot whales in spring. Tidal Pools St.James has lovely safe tidal pool to swim in and rock pools for the kids to explore.

Play grounds and exercise machines: There are two playgrounds at the beach offering monkey bars and jungle gyms at the beachfront. New exercise machines have been placed at the beachfront for you to show your kids how fit you are!

Blue Bird Garage food & drink market on Fridays from 4pm-10pm www.bluebirdmarket.co.za 5 minutes walk away! A vibrant indoor market, with delicious food, and beautiful gifts, jewellery and clothing

Surf School You are never too young to start! Leave your kids in the care of professional surf coaches, whilst you take a dip. Warm showers after! There are several schools down the beach to choose from. 

Zandvlei estuary There are several playgrounds and you can take a nice long walk around the estuary and see some amazing birds. There are Flamingos, King-fishers, Pelicans, Geese and plenty more.

Train to Simonstown  False Bay train station is 5 minutes walk from Bluebottle Guesthouse. The trains leave regularly to Simonstown from here,hugging the coastline all the way to Simonstown. The walk is about 20 mins from the station to the town of Simonstown. A good place to stop is St James with its tidal pool and kid friendly, Octopus Garden restaurant is a good stop OR Kalk bay with its magical old world harbour and quaint shops. Fish and chips on the harbour wall at Kalkies is a must!
